We’re One Week Old!
Things got rolling just a week ago, and it’s been a fun time! Thank you for all the positive responses on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and GooglePlus – we’re watching our memberships there grow in addition to a healthy number of visitors to our website. It’s all very exciting and encouraging!
To highlight some of our social media, this was our most popular Instagram post this week:
We’ve also been running a poll and were surprised by the responses – your input has been very helpful! We asked what your most common breakfast was and discovered oatmeal (and porridge in general) are very popular, holding strong at 32%, but ‘Other’ was actually the top choice. From what we’ve heard, smoothies and fruit should have been included – thank you to all who let us know and to the 62 people who participated in the poll! Our new poll is up. Let us know how often you typically eat breakfast! (See right menu.)
As we highlighted in our previous blog entry, our informative and popular ‘Tips for Veganizing Your Breakfast’ section is live, has already been updated and will continue to grow. We’ve also added our ‘Why Go Vegan?’ section, which includes a short history lesson on veganism, and how it came about.
We like to keep things fun and agree with the 4th Law of Sustainability: “If it’s not fun, it’s not sustainable.” Trying to keep spirits light, we also shared a fun Far Side graphic this week:
A request to readers: we need your help! We’re tracking down companies with breakfast items that have an all-vegan line-up. We’re looking for companies making bread, cereal, granola – you name it! We’ve found a few so far, and we’re highlighting them in our ‘Tips’ section as “#VeganStart Choices”. We’d like to reserve special recognition for all-vegan companies, so unfortunately, if the company has honey, dairy, or other animal products in their line, we won’t be including them in this section. Post in the comments below, or send us a note. (And a bright note: we’ve already been in touch with one nearly vegan company, and sounds like they’re going to drop the honey in a few products! It’s another step towards making breakfast more vegan-friendly!)
Gratitude is owed to author Ginny Kisch Messina, aka The Vegan RD, for taking a look at our site and providing some valuable feedback. Her site and social media are packed with helpful info on vegan nutrition and other topics of interest. Be sure to browse the site! Another big thank you goes to VeganBaker who baked us an AMAZING loaf of bread, with our name on it!! It’s exceptional, and I’m ecstatic to be able feature this image on our website:
Thanks for stopping by. That’s all for now. Have a great breakfast!!
